Hagia Sophia/Istanbul

What attracts you the most when you travel abroad? Regal snow capped mountain ranges or transparent aquamarine ocean waters. What if I say one country has it all. Yes it is true, Turkey has it all, mountains remind you Swiss alps, crystal clear water and white sand beaches. On top of that the country itself is very affordable.

Turkey is heaven for nature lovers and foodies. Before I start I wanna split the country in 2 parts, East and West. Most of the popular tourist attractions such as Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Antalya and Istanbul are located in west of Turkey. As for east it is less developed but nature and culture are survived well through years.

First let`s start with the West. if you are coming from another country, you will arrive in Istanbul most likely, the old capital. City has a rich history starts from ancient Constantinople. I will not recommend you to stay here more than you need. Inarguably you need to see the famous Hagia Sophia and iconic Bosphorus bridge that connects two continents . if you are travelling as a group less than 5, highly advise you to rent a car because Turkey is cheap compared to European countries, also cost will be similar to travelling in a bus or other means of transports. However don't worry if you are travelling solo, all the places I'm gonna mention in this article are reachable by domestic buses. If your job in Istanbul is done let`s move on to next destination which is Denizli, Pamukkale.

I bet you seen photo of Pammukale on Instagram or Facebook. The place is very similar to Icy mountain but with pools. In Turkish, its name can be translated as the “cotton castle”, which it actually is. This enormous construction of 2,700 meters (8,860 feet) long, 160 meters (525 feet) high and 600 meters (1,970 feet) wide can be seen from 20 km away, in the town of Denizli, which lies on the other side of the hill. After Denizli choose from Izmir, Bodrum and Antalya. All of them are coastal city.

My recommendation would be Antalya in this case because the city has lot more to offer. It owes the best beaches and unusual landscapes of Turkey. The city is active as well, maybe that`s why so many tourists come to Antalya in summer. 5 star

beach resorts, sandy beaches, high mountain and beautiful Duden falls that flow into the Mediterranean from the eastern side of a more than 40 m high travertine forming a waterfall. If you got enough tan why not go back to Istanbul. If I were you I would not go to Ankara, however If you are going to Cappadocia why not take look around the city since it is on way. Also don`t forget your quick visit in Salt lake, it won`t take your time but i guarantee it will worth it.

So here is the list:

1) Istanbul

2) Pamukkale

3) Antalya/Izmir/Bodrum

4) Cappadocia

5) Ankara

Second western Turkey. As I said before cities in the west are more traditoinal, kept their

culture and religious values and most importantly nature is so beautiful. I don`t understand Swiss alps is so popular and Trabzon Rize is not. Landscape you will see in this region is so similar to what you see in Swiss alps. It is land of endless peace that you will never get enough. There are some resorts in good taste with the nature like glass igloos in Finland for northern light. if you go there stay one of these hotels and enjoy your Turkish breakfast on top of Alps like mountain. Instead of spending your 18 hours in overnight bus just book your flight ticket to Trabzon. There is a slight difference in price but not much, when it comes to travelling you also need to care about your comfort.
